Ms. Cao, you are savoir. The whole school did nothing but fighting for three freaking months. We are looking forward a New Northwest Chinese School.

Looking back, NWCS is lucky to have dilligient and ethical board members like Nancy Wong as 董事会成员 who responded to the opinions of parents and understand the BOD's duty. NWCS also is lucky to have Ms.曹 and others 挺身而出竟选校长 under the circumstances.
Once again, I hope board take into account the many good ideas and suggestions posted on this blog, and work on setting up clear rules and ethical standards for all NWCS members, including Board, Admin, PTA and volunteers. Only with good system can we prevent similar saga happen again in the future and don't have to count on individual heros to save the school. Who knows, we may not be as lucky next time if the school bylaw and operation system is still dificient.

THE BOD STILL NEED TO SHOW ITS COURAGE AND INTEGRITY IN DEALING WITH ZL'S EXCESSIVE PAY ISSUE.
Yesterday, the Board picked a new principal for us, starting a new chapter for the NWCS. Let’s all move on by not looking back at what has happened in the past couple of months.
To my surprise and delightfulness, Ms. Cao has decided to take on this important role without pay. I am proud of her for her decision and commitment. In our community, there exists an role model that values volunteer service and personal contribution more than the monetary compensation. Her decision is visionary and more than money can buy. Way to go, Ms. Cao!
With that being said, I am much puzzled by the Board decision as stated in Peter’s last email. Despite of Ms. Cao’s willingness to work for free, now the board insists on considering an“incentive plan” to reward her service. For what purpose? Clearly, Ms. Cao is not money driven. Therefore, I think using money as a mechanism to regard her is an out-dated and inappropriate approach in her case. While Ms. Cao could be worth every penny had she asked for and I have no problem to pay her whatever she deserves for doing a good job, we must cherish Ms. Cao’s high moral standards and honor her aspiration and do something accordingly. Don’t weigh her down with the heavy load of ”incentive plan”! Good in its intention, The Board’s plan, on one hand, reflects us parents’ desire to fairly compensate her for her upcoming valuable service. But on the other, this remarkable individual who has forced us to come up with a new compensation model other than the conventional one now challenges us.
What can we do to recognize her contribution?
I am here again to throw out my idea on the table for discussion and consideration. Why don’t we use the money intended for Ms. Cao to establish a “Principal Scholarship” at NWCS to honor her instead? I look at it this way:
a) Payment for service is fair. But the service recipient tends not to have any feeling of indebtedness afterwards.
b) The scholarship program cherishes a higher moral standard and produces a legacy with lasting effects in the community.
c) The scholarship program will have good ripple effects: recipients could attend the school otherwise they won’t be able to and it sets a good example for students and recipients alike and nurtures them with the same aspiration to give back to the society in the future.

I like the idea Mr. Jin mentioned above. We shall cherish, respect and encourage the sprint of community service and volunteerism demonistrated by new principal. Taking this new approach and set up Scholarship to help low income family's kid enroll in our school is a noble thing the board and new principal need to work together and come up with a detail plan.
Do away with "Bonus" will set a good example so the school less likely to have spend all the time facing pprospect of disputes over who should paid by how much in the future.
By the way, while we all appreciate Ms. Cao's decision of not asking for salary from NWCS, especially compared to Ms. Zhoulin's shameless demand; she certainly is NOT "中文学校有史以来第一位自愿不拿工资的校长" as some comments suggests eariler. 没有利益的诱惑，也就停止了争斗。周琳口口声声不为了钱。可两年来，所有的争斗，都是为了钱。 现在明知自己做了那末多错事，还恬不知耻地向Board 要奖金. 正说明了她做事只为了钱. 不过也是, 她又没孩子,来中文学校不为了钱,那为了啥?
曹校长难能可贵，为大家树立了榜样。董事会要好好支持她。多给点奖金我们绝没意见。需要帮助时发个邮件给全校，不要就给那几个人。学校是大家的，大家都有责任来做贡献。
同意Jerome讲的。说穿了“incentive plan"和“bonus"有什么区别。换汤不换药。只是在字眼上玩花样。
“principal scholarship"倒是个好主意。学校既给了校长报酬，校长可以酌量捐出给低收入家庭的孩子上学。

董事会大多数董事还是主持正义的，Nancy Wong 就不用说了. 楼上你们都说了不少. 听说有位来自台湾的董事，自始至终坚守公正，从不盲目站在任何一方，值得夸奖。Simon虽说有时容易冲动, 但他嫉恶如仇,又能做到忍辱负重,是条汉子. Peter,原本是22家长团的一分子,虽说当机立断,弃暗投明,但时不时做事有点缩手缩脚, 可以理解.他不容易呀,乱世当官不易, 予以表扬. 听说最后进董事会的范尔康,表象不凡, 积极,有头脑,说话做事有条有理.虽说当初也是周琳一伙推入董事会的, 但他明事理,不做别人的代言人, 主持正义. 好样的!! 与之相比, 孙本经真是令人失望, 快去上帝面前忏悔吧. 李政是个不错的人,虽说它是周琳先生的同学,但还不想为了这样一个品质恶劣的校长毁了自己的廉洁. 犯不着. 我要是他就找周琳老公算账. 这不是把哥们儿往火坑里推吗? 胡志华,是有苦说不出.谁叫自子没脑子,又碰上个没脑子的周琳,倒霉呀! 被骂都没地儿诉苦去.
上面金建荣先生说，就索性完全不给校长任何奖金，这样避免任何利益纠纷。对此我有不同的意见。
首先，校长毕竟是工作量最大的，做得好，由董事会予以奖励，也是应该的，符合正义原则。
第二，以后校长如果一点奖金都没有，就会有另外一方面的危险，就是无所作为。曹女士是个有道德水准的人，但是以后的校长呢？他不作为，你怎么办？如果有合理的薪水或者奖金，这样就可以避免这样的现象，因为他就有了这个不可推卸的责任。(董事会就有不作为的危险)
这是我的一点意见，不成熟，还望大家讨论。

说得好！他已经多次说出几没水平的话了。上次教师董事会上，他说“为几块钱争什么？”。把所有的教师都侮辱了。不只一次说话没水平。比孙本经还差。周淋都死了，胡志华为什么还丧不搭脸的混在董事会？自找奚落，自找难堪。
别忘了潘红叶，不知道她精神病好没好。现在倒是挺踏实的。
这下该庆贺庆贺吧？下周天气好是不是可以全校野餐？算是帮贺小军个忙，免得她瞎忙活了一场。
说到胡小军，她的PTA主席是不是早过期了。
我提议刘敬豪当新的PTA候选人.
更好的方法可能还是给曹校长合理的工资，如果她真心不要报酬，她完全可以自愿把工资捐献给NWCS作校长奖学金。 这样一来，就可以避免已后任何校长以没有工资报酬为由而有不作为的危险。而且建立一个好榜样,让所有热爱NWCS的家长和老师更加尽心尽力，同心同德,为我们的孩子和华人社区作力所能及的贡献。
其实，大家要搞明白的是，董事会,校长,还有任何义工不拿金钱回报，并不意味着没有明确的责任与义务。在其位,就要尽其责. 只要制度完善,职责分明，NWCS就会越办越好。
记得有位家长在这个博克提过，"说来说去也许有人会说光讲奉献透明没有好处谁干啊,那您千万歇好.我想大部分家长还是有能力有爱心和见义勇为的,三个臭皮匠怎么着也能顶个诸葛亮吧.”
是的，咱们NWCS社区不乏有爱心愿奉献的人！

PICNIC TABLES
Project: To install four picnic tables next to the Big Toy
· Four galvanized/rubber coated picnic tables $4,300
· Level and pour concrete foundation $7,000
Description: Purchase and install four 77” diameter picnic tables with checker boards in concrete south of the big toy on the back playground. It is a district requirement that they be put in concrete to prevent theft and for safety. The ASB originally chose a different location however; it was not useable because of the fire lane and the location of electrical wires. The area as highlighted in red on the attached aerial photo was selected and approved by the principal, Jon Holmen.
Use:
· Games at recess
· Eating Space
· Learning space for teachers – seating for 32
· Safe area within recess teachers eyes for to read, etc. at recess time
· Space to do class work for outside projects

The above cost is extremely close but not exact. Blackwell and Wilder did similar projects last year and these numbers were given with a slight buffer by Sheri Sanders at the district level. She requested that the funds be authorized before getting a hard estimate, but these numbers are based on projects within the last year with the purchase of the same tables. The vendor for the tables and contractor for the concrete had already been identified by the district.

Zhou Lin herself said in the pricipale hearing that she give up because the annoymous letters, and some board members support them.
In a sense, it is those annoymous emails which kicked her out!

You are conflicting youself. Simon, Nancy, and Peter are board members, and two of them even board officers. If they did good, the board did good.

张大悠 is the best of the best in terms of humorous, percise, decisive and conclusive, and beautiful.
老爸 is not bad at all if you have the similar twisted humor sense.
袁泽东 is kind of "culture revolution" time's generation. I would stay away from the style. Not, that I dislike her/him.
I like 谢黎君 and 小媳妇, though I think that they are the same guy/gal. They are instrumental in speaking out truth.
I love L Chen too. I hope he is as handsome/pretty as his/ her articles. It's just me. I love pretty things. I like Da You and Lao Ba too. It would be nice to meet them all someday. But I am afraid there will be too many of them asking for hugs.

刚刚看到已有超过2万人次上过这个blog. 衷心感谢版主地为大家提供了一个民主平台。看见有这麽多人发表意见，关心学校，相信NWCS会越办越好。
