What a similarity. I was totally amazed by this news and can not wait to post it for people who really care of this school. Also, I did a simple search and find some additional news.

So what it teaches us? How we can learn from that fall off? Close the blog? Let financial situation run the course by itself? Keep ZL and pay her according to contract so she will be coorperated? Or fire ZL and do the damage control ASAP? Don't you think our board has done very less damage control in the past month except organizing a principal candidate hearing?
What the top priority our board should do in the next week, month or three months? I think our board is eager to hear from you all.

他山之石，可以攻玉。报导的新泽西这所中文学校，和西北中文学校发生的情况有着惊人的相似性，都是校长不交账目1财经运作不透明，而且还干涉董事会的选举。不同的是，他们的董事会已经把校长告上法庭。BLOG主人可以看看能否把那条新闻登在主页，也好引以为戒。谢谢。

Also,We do not think you have the place to express you concern. This web blog is for you. Checks and balances 是中文学校健康发展最重要的因素，而财务透明又是最关键的一环。无论是校长还是董事会，都必须向全体家长公开其财务和政务，并自觉接受家长老师以及社会各界的监督，否则必然走向灾难。
By-law的修改必须谨慎又谨慎，必须经过全体家长的充分的、长期的讨论，必须经过多位法律专家把关。任何匆忙修改By-law的举动都必将后患无穷。
无论是校长、还是董事会，还是家长会主席，谁违反by-law，谁违反国家法规和学校规章制度，谁就是全体家长学生的敌人。
“这件事，是因为理事会拿不到帐目、查不了帐所引起”“对於学校管理，只要与校长有不同意见，就变成敌人”真太像了。
不过有几点不同。
1，人家校长是一分钱也没有拿过；
我们校长是永远不嫌拿到的钱多。
2， 校长擅自给降学费；
我们校长只给我们涨过学费
3， 校长给老师擅自涨工资；
给老师涨过钱吗？这得问老师。
4，人家校长是这么说的“家长会中少数人的意见得不到多数人认同，我会永远与大多数人保持一致”。
我们学校有几百个家庭，校长好像只和其中的20几个保持一致。

每个人做事都是由原因的。你们说周琳做得不对，犯法了。但为什么刘景浩，梁路平，胡志华，田红旗，还有李燕，如此的拼着命的支持她哪？这些人不是为周琳公款请客的一两顿饭就能这么叫嚣吧。
她那天看着还像个没事的人似的，是不是还有其他的计策来毁学校。如校舍等。董事会是不是准备好了。我们大家是不是准备好了？
会计，簿记员的工资市是校长的两倍，为什么？是管理失职还是别有用心？！
校长不能一走了之。该被传到法庭还是的乖乖得到。
指望董事会是不行了。得直接上诉上告。不是给技校的一封信就把周琳赶下台了吗？我们给州司法部写封信，请他们调查非盈利的西北中文学校的问题。非盈利就意味着是那纳税人的钱。国税局也应该管。
The group of 22 is finished. Liu Jing Hao checked out already. No more tomato threwing on them please. Either Zhou Lin F'ed them all, or they F'ed Zhou Lin. They feel extremely bad already. The final result is day and night from what they sweared to get at the beginning. Too bad for them. Hope they know who they are now. Hope them start being humble and volunteer more, and quiet.

You guys should wake up. Please do not expect the board will do anything. The board - new and old - has not done much. Can anyone list any substantial things the board has done (oh, yeah, they tried to chase annoymous emails)?
The most recent hearing was done by PTA and "Group of 22". The board sent out several boring emails which pissed of a lot of parents. Nothing else it has done.
Zhou Lin has first time apology to Simon after receiving the Washington State Supereme Court Subpoena. Nothing to do with the board.
Zhou Lin was dishonerably outered by the email to LTWC. Nothing to do with the board. Whoever sent the letter is the hero of NWCS.
The board did nothing. Even no email pointing out Zhou Lin's any wrong doings what so ever.
But you know why. PHY, LZ, HZH, PH are all part of the "Group of 22" openly or hidden.
So, please do not rely on the board. They proved themselves not only useless, but deliberately breaking the law and cover up.
I would send the complain to authorities who care this non-profit organization. I will, in fact.

Let us hope our board members finally wake up, and have a change of heart before it becomes too late. Continuing ignore parents and teacher's valid concern and reasonable request of 公开其财务和政务 as well as ZL'S Bonus issue will result in NWCS 走向灾难.
又一封来自董事长的信。 PH从上任信发了不少，说的都是废话。那腔调简直就是个居委会的老娘们，没有事就别废话，搞什么搞！！你们看看这次他都说些啥？！看了信我就明白为什么ZL还敢回来要奖金了。这种董事会事嘛不做，净添乱。

We just finished our school term. As a board Chair, I would like to send this email to thank all the school admins, our teachers, PTA volunteers for their dedication and effort to support our school and nurture our children! There are a lot of good stories to tell and share with our members. Today, I do want to share one story here with you.
Since my daughter is in 4C, I have direct interaction with the teacher Li Yan and other parents and their children. I want to take this opportunity to thank teacher Li Yan for spending hours of her own time to produce the colorful Student Writing Collection! In addition, teacher Li and other parents led by the PTA lead, Hu Zhihua (also our new board secretary) produced the memorable VCD of the entire class! The most significant event is created by Mr. Ren Xu, one of the parents in the class. Mr. Xu donated $575 to the class. With Mr. Xu's donation, each student in 4C now has a nice and warn vest with his/her own name besides Chinese character, Zhong Wen! What a great class!!! Thank you, teacher Li, Mr. Ren Xu, Zhihua, and PTA volunteers!
Looking forward, I have all my hopes that this school will be bigger, better, and stronger! The reason, we have everyone on board! We have everyone on board to care about this school and our children!

Peter's email to ALL PARENTS is not appropriate in my point of view. Yes, I appreciate teachers and donations from parents. But, I'd rather see him put his time on priority stuff.
No matter what he said, we are waiting for the elected principal, either Cao or Zhang, officially announced. Supposedly tomorrow.
The current Board consists of a bunch of, if not all, guys good for nothing (maybe even worse). They got their priorities wrong or even did not know any priorities. They do NOT have a sense of who sent them there at the first place and why they are there. Remember what its vice chairman Mr. Sun said at the end of the Open Hearing? He wanted to sweep the family dirt back under the carpet and keep it there. None of his business! Now its chairman Mr. Huang is signing a laudable hymn at the time of crisis. What a joke! Let's see what’ their next act. Bring on the fat lady, dear Board!!! We are waiting and ready to enjoy it.
For all of us as NWCS members, the NWCS saga has sadly come to its finale: the judgment day for the Board. The verdict is obviously between dissolving it all together and overhauling it. Let’s retract the power from the board to its members who will exercise it correctly this time.

Obviously, there is a third power here to help remove the Principal first, then attempts to eliminate the Board, even tries to hold the most wanted candidate stepping in.
Don't dream to utilize all those tactics and conspiracy learned from Chinese History, there are hundreds of books like 二十四史,孙子兵法,春秋左传,etc. placed on bookshelves in someone's house.

PH有时间在这里为周琳擦粉，怎么就没时间选新校长，没有时间把财务的是搞清，没有时间和大家商量商量下一步怎么走，学校章程如何完善？！ 他要么是是不能胜任董事会的职责，要么就是别有用心。说到这我不禁要问，这个人是怎么进得董事会？又是怎么当上了董事会主席？

You bet that the school need governing bodies to invetigate.
Last summer, Zhou Lin worked less than 10 hours and collected $11K income. We have witness. It was the board's mistake though, but it needs to be fixed. It clearly broke the law governing non-profit org.
We are working on sending a letter to State Atterney General and IRS. Stay tuned. ...
Why? because the board has done abosolutely nothing.
Man! Jim Mia is screwed.
We will stop the process if Zhou Lin returns most of the $11K she collected from last summer program.

作为通一所学校的家长，我想我们的共同愿望是把学校建设好。如果说要“斗”，那应该是我们共同与外界斗。我们家长之间既没有斗的理由也没有斗的必要。我本人也不赞成任何形式的个人攻击。我想刘景浩、梁路平、及其他二十位家长还是为学校的民主化建设作了件好事。建议大家多看positive的一面。
现在校长的选举已经结束。不管是谁当选，只要它是民心所向，我们都应该支持。这样才是为我们的学校好，也是对我们的孩子们的将来负责任。谢谢大家！
Are the survey results official? Who is Liang Luping? What authority did he have to announce the results? The results should have come from the Board or somebody who was delegated by the board and made to be known to all in advance. Once again, the incompetent board did a stupid thing. It kept silent when it should have spoken out. It opened its mouth on the subjects when it should have kept quiet. Another typical blunder, hah hah! How many more blunders are needed before the board will finally call it quit?

The above poster raised a good question. How did Liang come up with a total number of 301 valid forms? Here is my question to Jerome Jin who organized the process of survey forms on 6/9/07. Could you, Jerome, tell us the actual number of forms distributed? Did the number of 301 make any sense to you? Thanks.
After the removal of current principal, ceasing fire is the only way to have the School driven back to the right track.
We can sense Ms.Cao is in the position with absolute winning votes no matter if the forms were counted accurately or not. Do we need to waste the time to verify it?
In financial term, "Approximate right" is much better than "Accurate Wrong", because it will ensure the relevance. Let's finalize the process of principal-elected, let her run the show asap.
Jeromy has done a great job and he probably expects to see his effort to be converted to a fruitful result.
It is becoming very clear that current board of directors (at least some of them) still don't get it. The BOD pretty much has pay little attention to the parents and teachers' call on getting the priority issues addressed so far.Now we know why: Many of them were closely associated with ZL one way or the other (received personal favors from her before, some become BOD due to ZL and her friend's effort). So don't expect them to do the right thing on ZL's bonus problem and 向全体家长公开其财务和政务. The sad reality is that, The BOD is doing its best try to cover up their own mistakes and self-dealing.
Hello again, dear Mr. & Ms. directors, tell us, with your actions, not words, where do you place your loyelty with. ZL and your friends, or NWCS and the public interest?

What's happened had happened. We need to focus on is how to make sure that it won't happen again.
Earlier here, somebody posted a question for me. I am sorry that I can not comply with your request. The reason is not because I don’t know how to answer or want to keep it away from all of you on purpose. The issue here is about credibility. I, as the one who was in charge of the survey distribution, was only to make sure that every form be handed out professionally and legitimately. I consider it as stepping out of my territory if I ever make inappropriate comments or release any survey-related info to anyone other than the Board. However, I already sent a report on Monday, June 11th to the Board regarding the number of forms issued on Kirkland’s main campus and to Seattle branch, including valid serial numbers of the forms. If members are still interested in this info, they should file a formal request to the Board, who can either choose to release it themselves or send me a written note to do so on their behalf.
My apology again for my rigid and firm stand that I am taking on the issue.

Given that the current board is basically clueless on what is expected of them, to say the least,let's hope the new principal will keep his or her promise, have the integrity and learn a lesson from ZL, 自觉接受家长老师以及社会各界的监督 to earn the respect and support from NWCS community.

I am excited to announce that the board has chosen Ms. Cao Xiaohe as our next school principal! Please join us to congratulate Ms. Cao and help her and her future team to be successful in our school! The most significance of this hiring is that Ms. Cao decided to take this position as a volunteer position without any base salary. Our board has decided an incentive plan (detailed to be disclosed) to honor her future high performance!

If you did this as a parent I can see the point you made. But as the Chairman you have left out a lots of teachers and parents in your Thank you note.

I think it is more important for the board to win parents trust what you did with school's money and what you are going to do with the hugh balance there, before you go ask for more donations.

Peter acted like a school principal instead of the Board Chairman by sending that email in which he praised Mr. Xu Ren. No doubt that Xu Ren should have been recognized. But this was something that should be done by the CEO, the principal in this case. The Board and Chairman should have been working on the big picture: setting policies, addressing members' concerns and monitoring the Admin team, just to name a few.

you guys need to bring up the speed. The new principal seems to be very competent. You must do your homework well so that the Board and the new Admin team can see eye to eye and be on the same page for the success of the school.
