Yesterday, the Board picked a new principal for us, starting a new chapter for the NWCS. Let’s all move on by not looking back at what has happened in the past couple of months.
To my surprise and delightfulness, Ms. Cao has decided to take on this important role without pay. I am proud of her for her decision and commitment. In our community, there exists an role model that values volunteer service and personal contribution more than the monetary compensation. Her decision is visionary and more than money can buy. Way to go, Ms. Cao!
With that being said, I am much puzzled by the Board decision as stated in Peter’s last email. Despite of Ms. Cao’s willingness to work for free, now the board insists on considering an“incentive plan” to reward her service. For what purpose? Clearly, Ms. Cao is not money driven. Therefore, I think using money as a mechanism to regard her is an out-dated and inappropriate approach in her case. While Ms. Cao could be worth every penny had she asked for and I have no problem to pay her whatever she deserves for doing a good job, we must cherish Ms. Cao’s high moral standards and honor her aspiration and do something accordingly. Don’t weigh her down with the heavy load of ”incentive plan”! Good in its intention, The Board’s plan, on one hand, reflects us parents’ desire to fairly compensate her for her upcoming valuable service. But on the other, this remarkable individual who has forced us to come up with a new compensation model other than the conventional one now challenges us.
What can we do to recognize her contribution?
I am here again to throw out my idea on the table for discussion and consideration. Why don’t we use the money intended for Ms. Cao to establish a “Principal Scholarship” at NWCS to honor her instead? I look at it this way:
a) Payment for service is fair. But the service recipient tends not to have any feeling of indebtedness afterwards.
b) The scholarship program cherishes a higher moral standard and produces a legacy with lasting effects in the community.
c) The scholarship program will have good ripple effects: recipients could attend the school otherwise they won’t be able to and it sets a good example for students and recipients alike and nurtures them with the same aspiration to give back to the society in the future.

我觉得,对老金的建议,大家还得再多考虑考虑,从长远的眼光权衡利弊,不要轻易下结论,这毕竟只是老金一个人的观点。
我觉得学校既然已经做了全国校长的工资调查,校长的工资标准就该定好。曹校长不要工资没关系,就按老金的建议成立一个基金会。校长可以参与决定如何发放使用这笔钱。以后的校长如果想领工资,可以按如今的标准领。学校有这样一个奖学金是个好事,如果以后还有愿意捐助的就可以继续加大,也可以让孩子们参与。我们学校这样大的一个华人团体,应该有一些回报社会的动作,这也是孩子成长过程非常重要的一课。 这里,国内都有很多需要帮助的孩子。
我支持老金!!

Intead of "incentive plans", 更好的方法可能还是给曹校长合理的工资,如果她真心不要报酬,她完全可以自愿把工资捐献给NWCS作校长奖学金。 这样一来,就可以避免已后任何校长以没有工资报酬为由而有不作为的危险。而且建立一个好榜样,让所有热爱NWCS的家长和老师更加尽心尽力,同心同德,为我们的孩子和华人社区作力所能及的贡献。
看到很多表扬这次“批琳批恐”表现突出的人,非常感谢你们提到的每一位。可是别忘了这个版主为全体家长提供了发言的场所,几次关键的时刻大家的心声也都是从这里传达到董事会。 为此我由衷地感谢版主!!
董事会有9人,是集体负责制,所以,即使有董事辞职,也不会影响到董事会的连续性。况且董事会里面每个董事的工作比校长小。而校长是一个人对整个admin的日常工作负责任。我担心,以后如果都是志愿的,不拿任何薪水或者奖励,就怕经常出现校长辞职的情况,或者校长不作为,把学校弄得死气沉沉。如果一个人干三五个月校长就辞职,这样对于学校的日常教学影响太大。周琳的薪水不合理,但是我觉得也不能从一个极端走向另一个极端。人的本性都是自私的,趋利避害。虽然有各方的监督,但是校长经常辞职也不好。所以,还是得胡萝卜(合理报酬)加大棒(监督)才行,缺一不可。另外的一个办法是减少校长的责任和workload,增大副校长(如果还设置的话)的workload。这是我的意见。

NWCS will be stepping up a new stage if the above 15 anonymous run PTA for next year.

Set the principal pay at the market rate along with the “Principal Scholarship”. In reality, the ones who choose to get paid are welcome to do so and the others who decide to volunteer can donate their salaries to the scholarship fund. For a system to work properly, a contract between a principal and the school should have a bounding clause. There should be ramifications when the signed contract is not honored without probable causes for either case: paid or unpaid. At a result, the school could reduce the risk of uncertainty at the mercy of its CEO.
What NWCS should decide is whether to pay Principal or not.
For future's sake, NWCS SHOULD PAY Principal reasonably according to the survey done by previous BOD. What Ms. Cao wants to do with HER salary should only be decided by HERSELF and HER FAMILY. We can only offer suggestions if she is open to ask for it. She should have finally say.

曹校长有绝对权利决定该款项的使用,当然具体发放有技术细节,比如如果按工资发给她,就会产生所得税和FICA等项目,她处理时就得考虑这些费用.
即使曹校长经过深思熟虑,改变主意,接受薪金,我们绝对不可说三道四,因为她本来就应该接受,这是对学校发展有利的.(关于她改主意纯属我的假设,没有任何根据)
校长如果不要钱,这份钱就仍属于学校,校长可以参与如何处理这些钱的决策,但学校必须有一个处理章程。
Rumor has it that Zhou Lin is still pushing the Board for her bonus. while we're all admiring Ms. Cao's spirit of volunteerism and generosity, I can't help asking: what on earth is Ms. Zhou thinking? does she honestly think that she deserves the bonus? or is it because she's always got what she wanted from the Board, so she will definitely get the bonus this time as well in spite of all the uproar, chaos, damages she's caused NWCS? or is it because she is in serious financial trouble, and she needs help?
what I'd like to say is, last time I checked, NWCS is not a charity that gives out freebies to needy people. or is it?....
希望校长领薪水的家长,主要是担心没有物质刺激,责任心会降低,我们相信曹校长是个有高尚品质的好人,但是根据人性的规律,如果出现有人出来对她的管理说三道四的时候,谁能保证她不会觉得委屈呢?没有功劳,还有苦劳呢?
所以校长不拿钱,又要象以前拿高薪的校长一样的工作,是不符合经济规律的.
如果家长中有有能力和愿望而又需要物质补偿的人士,不妨让其分担曹校长的具体工作,而曹可以在策略和治学的宏观方面把关,不被琐事缠身.
From what I understand Zhou Lin for those years, it is not rumor that she is pushing for bonus.
Mostly everything you hear from her is just opposite to truth. She claimed in the "Teacher/Board" two weeks ago that she was not the type of person to revenge. Heck! she is exactly the type of person to revenge every chance she has.
She also claimed tons of times that her NWCS work is not for money. Totally opposit! Every second she spent in NWCS was for money and more.
So, let's face it, we are dealing with a chronical lair.
What are we going to do if the board is wasting NWCS money to bonus Zhou Lin?
Well, she lied that she didn't edited the May 7 email flaming Simon until she received the Court of Justics document.
Nobody not telling a lie in her/his life time. But Zhou Lin is constantly telling lies - a very very rare personality and quality.
Are you trying to imply I am speaking for that Liar? What the heck are you thinking?
I think it funny the Principal is not taking what she/he should take. Eventually, it will hurt School's operation.
Unbelieveable? Let's see, probably after couple months, you guys will argue how many responsibilities the Principal should take instead of how much money she shouldn't pocket.

Zl的老公是谁?哪儿找了这么个东西,简直就是个疯子,钱痨。 天天和个神经病在一起,简直不能想象他平时过的是什么日子,可真是个可怜人。
学校首先要有健全的制度,具体严谨的分工,麻烦不能说没有,但可以减少到最低。
即将卸任的校长是个敛财能手,即将接任的校长是个无私典范,我们当然弘扬后者,鄙视前者.但是古人云:"切勿矫枉过正",我觉得我们不能从一个极端走向另一个极端.
只是凡夫俗子的个人意见,当然没有满腔热血的豪杰义士们来得洒脱.惭愧了.

NWCS should ask Zhou Lin to PAY BACK what she got for the last summer plus interest plus penalty!
